I was reading Austin Kleon’s book, “Show Your Work” and he highlights a quote from Jonathan Lethem that perfectly describes the place I am in, “There’s a period of time, a place after you’ve finished something and before you’ve published it, in which it no longer belongs to you, but it doesn’t belong to the audience yet, either. He calls this ‘The Gulp’. It’s an unsettling place. ”
Oh boy, isn’t that the truth. You reach the ultimate decision-making day where you come to the proverbial edge deciding whether to take a leap of faith or back away from it all and just settle. That’s the place I stand.
I take a big gulp, feel the lump in my throat and ultimately throw caution to the wind and say, I’m doing this…I’m sharing this with the world! So here you go folks, I’m stripping down to my skivvies, what feels like naked to me, and running through the streets baring it all and showing you what I’ve been up to for the last several years. I merged my many passions of photography, baking and cooking and soaking up as much as I can from any nonfiction book I can get my hands on, into creating and building a cookbook/legacy project for my kids filled with recipes, stories and life lessons that ultimately passes on the lesson of how we all in one way or another take part in “Sharing Our Life, Love and Food” with others.
